Cienega Bridge – Arizona

The Ciénega Bridge, an open-spandrel arch structure, spans Ciénega Creek and the Union Pacific Railroad near Vail, Arizona. Built in 1921, it was part of U.S. Route 80, a critical transcontinental highway, from 1926 to 1956. As the oldest bridge of its type in Arizona, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Additionally, it is the longest open-spandrel concrete arch bridge in the state. Today, the bridge supports Marsh Station Road, which has been part of Historic U.S. Route 80 since 2018.
